These terms and conditions apply to the use of this website, and by accessing this website and/or placing an order you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions as set out below. Before you place an order, if you have any questions relating to these terms and conditions please contact our customer services team.
“Conditions” means these terms and conditions, “product” means a product displayed for sale on the website, “we, “us”, “our” means The Telegraph Bookshop, “you”, “your” means the user of this website, “working days” means all days other than Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
Use of website
You are provided with access to this website in accordance with these Conditions and any orders placed by you must be placed strictly in accordance with these Conditions.
When you register with The Telegraph Bookshop website, you will be required to choose a contact email address and password. You are responsible for all session and transactions taken under these details. You should keep your password safe and not disclose it to anyone. You should change it immediately if you feel it has been compromised.
You warrant that the personal information provided when you register as a customer is true, accurate, current and complete in all aspects, and you will notify us immediately if any of your details change, such as the credit card billing address. You may update your details by signing into your account on The Telegraph Bookshop website.
You agree not to impersonate any other person or entity or to use a false name or a name you are not authorised to use.
You agree fully to indemnify, defend and hold us, and our officers, directors, employees and suppliers, harmless immediately on demand, from and against all claims, liability, damages, losses, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of any breach of the Conditions by you or any other liabilities arising out of your use of this website, or the use by any other person accessing the website using your shopping account and/or your personal information.
By creating an account you confirm that you are aged 18 or over.
In placing an order you confirm that you are aware of any age restrictions on these products and assert that you are old enough to purchase them.
Certain products are subject to delivery restrictions, particularly eBooks. Some products can only be sent to UK addresses and can only be sent to a UK billing address. Where such restrictions apply these will be notified to you during the check-out process.
In some instances we may decline to deliver parcels to PO addresses. We will contact you if we consider the delivery address provided to be a problem.
All orders are made subject to these terms and conditions.
The contract between us
Your contract for purchases made through The Telegraph Bookshop is with The Telegraph Bookshop, whose registered office is situated at 111 Buckingham Palace Road, London, SW1W 0DT
When placing an order, you agree that any and all information given is accurate and complete.
All orders are subject to acceptance and product availability.
Availability information for products is listed on each individual product description. If The Telegraph Bookshop does not have enough stock to deliver the goods you have ordered, we will not charge your credit or debit card until the items are back in stock and ready to be despatched.
No contract for the sale of any product will exist between you and The Telegraph Bookshop until payment of the whole of the price for the goods ordered has been received. Payment is not taken until the point of despatch of the goods to you from our distribution centre.
Once payment has been received The Telegraph Bookshop will confirm that your order has been received by sending an email to you.
This confirmation email will be sent to the email address given in your order form and will detail products ordered, order number and the total price (including VAT and p&p).
The Telegraph Bookshop acceptance of your order brings into existence a legally binding contract between us on these terms.
Any term sought to be imposed by you in your order will not form part of the contract.
You must check all the details on this confirmation email are correct and contact us as soon as possible if any details are incorrect.
If your order has not been accepted, you will receive an email from us telling you the reasons why.
The Telegraph Bookshop are entitled to withdraw from any contract in the case of obvious errors or inaccuracies regarding the goods appearing on our website.
If an error or inaccuracy is discovered with regards to the advertised price of the goods that you have ordered, we will contact you as soon as possible by email. This will be to inform you of the correct price of the goods, and to ask you if you wish to continue with the order at the amended price, or to cancel the order altogether. If we are unable to contact you or we receive no reply from you, we will cancel your order.
The Telegraph Bookshop reserve the right to change prices listed without notice.
The Telegraph Bookshop reserves the right to refuse to supply to any individual or company.
Withdrawal by you from the contract
If you are an individual and are not buying goods on behalf of a business, there are certain circumstances in which you may withdraw from the contract and these are set out here. This right to withdraw does not apply to business buyers.
You may withdraw your order for goods at any time up to the end of the thirtieth working day after you have received the goods. You do no need to give The Telegraph Bookshop any reason for withdrawing your order nor will you have to pay any penalty.
The only circumstances in which you cannot withdraw your order is where you have taken the goods you have ordered (or the ones in relation to which you want to withdraw) out of the sealed package in which they were delivered or in the case of audio, video, DVD recordings, music CDs or computer software where the holographic seal and/or shrink-wrap has been unsealed by you.
To withdraw your order you must notify The Telegraph Bookshop in writing at the address set out in the Returns section of this website
If you have received the goods before you withdraw your order, then you must send them back to The Telegraph Bookshop return address at your own cost and risk, unless the goods were supplied faulty or damaged. If you withdraw your order but The Telegraph Bookshop have already processed the goods for despatch and you have yet to receive them, you must not unpack the goods when they are received by you and you must send the goods back to The Telegraph Bookshop return address at your own cost and risk as soon as possible.
Once you have notified The Telegraph Bookshop that you are withdrawing your order, any sum debited to The Telegraph Bookshop from your credit card will be re-credited to your account within fourteen days of receiving returned or unwanted items.
Availability of goods you order
If The Telegraph Bookshop have insufficient stock to deliver the goods ordered by you, we will notify you as soon as possible and any sum debited by The Telegraph Bookshop from your credit/debit card will be re-credited to your account and The Telegraph Bookshop will notify you by email at the address given by you in your order form. The refund will be made as soon as possible and in any event within 30 days of your order. The Telegraph Bookshop will not be obliged to offer any additional compensation for disappointment suffered.
We will take all reasonable care to ensure that all details and availabilities of products appearing on the website are correct at the time when the relevant information was entered onto the system. Although we aim to keep the website as up-to-date as possible, the information including product descriptions, prices and availability at a particular time may not reflect the position exactly at the moment you place an order. Please note that the price the goods are offered for tender are as displayed in the shopping basket. Your credit card will only be debited as your order or individual items within your order are dispatched.
Prices exclude postage and packing. Promotions apply to listed products only, which are subject to change and availability. If you choose to purchase a product from a multi-buy offer, but do not purchase enough products to qualify for the special discount, the product will be charged at the normal price. Please note that on 3 for 2 promotions (and other multi-buy offers), the lowest priced title will always be the ‘free’ item.
Should a multi-buy item be cancelled from your order, the total cost of the order will be recalculated to reflect that your purchase no longer qualifies for the multi-buy discount.
Delivery of goods to you
The delivery period stated within which you will receive your order is approximate based upon availability, normal processing and delivery companies.
Goods will be sent to the person and the address given by you in your order. If you are ordering more than one item, your goods may be sent to you in instalments if certain items are out of stock.
You will become the owner of the goods you have ordered when the goods are received by you.
The Telegraph Bookshop accepts payment by Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards,
Before accepting your order we will carry out a standard pre-authorisation check on your payment card to ensure there are sufficient funds to cover the cost of the transaction. No payment is debited from your card during this pre-authorisation, though your card issuer may ‘reserve’ these funds against your payment card.
Your payment card will only be charged when the items in your order are ready to be despatched.
We only accept credit/debit cards issued by UK Banks and registered to a valid UK address.
All product prices and delivery charges are shown in UK pounds sterling.
Prices and VAT
Prices shown on the website include VAT, where and to the extent that VAT is required to be applied to the product under UK VAT law.
Delivery charges are extra and are applied where applicable.
Although we make every effort to ensure the prices on the website are correct, mistakes may sometime be made. If we discover a mistake in the price of the products you have ordered prior to their despatch, we will contact you and give you the option of either reconfirming your order at the correct price or cancelling your order. If we do not receive a reply we will cancel your order. The Telegraph Bookshop will not be obliged to offer any compensation for disappointment suffered.
Returns and credits
Products can be returned under the following conditions:
- The item must be returned within 30 days of receipt
- Books must be in unused (re-saleable) condition
- Any other item must be returned in new condition with its original packaging and accessories (eBooks by their nature cannot be returned).
By post in accordance with the following procedure:
Repackage the products securely and send the products together with the reason for return, a copy of the invoice/delivery note, your email address, order number and instructions as whether you would like a refund or a replacement. The returns address can be found on the paperwork that arrives with your order or by referring to the returns section in our Help Pages.
Returns by post are made at your risk and your cost. We recommend that you use an insured registered mail service as returns not received by us cannot be credited to you.
Refunds will be credited to the same card used for the order.
If you receive an incorrect or damaged item from us, please return it to us within 30 days of receipt for a full refund or exchange. We will refund the cost of return postage for any error on our part.
Goods lost in transit
For deliveries to any UK address please allow 10 working days from the date of despatch. If after 10 days your goods have not arrived, please contact our customer service team.
We treat all your personal information as confidential (although we reserve the right to disclose this information in the circumstances set out below). We will keep it on a secure server and we will fully comply with all applicable UK Data Protection and consumer legislation in place.
When you shop on the website, we will ask you to input and will collect personal information from you such as your name, email address, billing address, delivery address, telephone number, product selections, credit card and other payment information and a password. We may also collect information about where you are on the internet (e.g. the URL you came from, IP address, domain types likes .co.uk.fxsc.ru and .com) your browser type, the country your computer is located, the pages of our website that were viewed during your visit, the advertisement you click on, and any search terms that you entered on our website ('User Information'). We may collect this information even if you do not register with us.
You should be aware that this site is being monitored and any capture information about your visit that will help us improve the quality of our service.
We confirm that any personal information which you provide to us (or which is available on public registers) and any user information from which we can identify you, is held in accordance with the registration we have with the Data Commissioner’s Office. When you create a shopping account while ordering online you will be given the option to receive information from The Telegraph Bookshop by email about products, promotions or special offer which we feel may be of interest to you. In the event that you do not wish to be contacted for such purposes, ensure you tick the appropriate box as you go through the registration process. You may unsubscribe from our contact list at any time by replying to a promotional email by clicking the 'Unsubscribe' box, or by contacting us here.
Your personal information may be disclosed to other businesses and third parties who may help process your order. The Telegraph Bookshop requires all such third parties to treat your personal information as fully confidential and to fully comply with all applicable UK Data Protection and consumer legislation from time to time in place. You should be aware that if we are requested by the police or any other regulatory or government authority investigating suspected illegal activities to provide your personal information and/or user information, we are entitled to do so.

Promotional discount codes
We may occasionally offer discount codes to customers. Discount codes are exclusive of online postage and packaging and can only be used as specified on the individual discount code. Discount codes cannot be used retrospectively and cannot be used with any other voucher, coupon or offer. We reserve the right to withdraw codes at any time.
The Telegraph Bookshop Stores Limited shall have no liability to you for any failure to deliver goods you have ordered or any delay in doing so or for any damage or defect to goods delivered that is caused by any event or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
These terms and conditions, together with the current The Telegraph Bookshop website prices, delivery details and The Telegraph Bookshop's contact details, set out the whole of our agreement relating to the supply of the goods to you by The Telegraph Bookshop. Any changes to these conditions must be in writing and signed by both parties. In this way, we can avoid any problems surrounding what The Telegraph Bookshop and you are expected to do. You confirm that, in agreeing to accept the conditions, you have not relied on any representation save insofar as the same has expressly been made a term of these conditions and you agree that you shall have no remedy in respect of any representation. Your statutory rights are not affected by these terms and conditions. Law & Jurisdiction
The terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and any disputes will be decided only by the English Courts. Any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with this Contract or its formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Variation of Terms and Conditions
We have the right to vary these terms and conditions from time to time but you will only be subject to the terms that applied when you placed the order with us unless the changes are the result of changes to the law having retrospectively effect or we notify you of the changes before despatch of your order in which case unless you notify us to the contrary within 7 days of receipt of notice of the change we can assume that the changes are acceptable.
